Volunteer at the Polls

November 8th, 2022

Anytime between 6am to 7pm

A handful of flyers when you go, one hour, four hours, all day...you decide!

https://www.kceb.org/elections/

Come help us out!

We need individuals that will hand out flyers at polling stations as the voters get done and are leaving. This is a simple gig that helps us reach a lot of the voters that will be voting on the ordinance once it is on the ballot. The goal is to familiarize and educate the voters on what ranked choice voting is and answer questions.

If you are new to interacting with voters at the polls or are just more comfortable with another person along, let us know and we can get you to a location with another volunteer.

What to do:

  • Pick a polling location from below.

  • To pick up or have flyers mailed or delivered to your home, email Larry@BetterBallotKC.org or text (402) 321-4851

  • Bring items to be more comfortable

  • Show up

  • Position yourself at least 25 feet away from the entrance (see link below)

  • Smile and hand out flyers as people leave

  • If you like talking to people tell them the benefits of RCV and call their city council member to put the RCV ordinance question on the April ballot

https://www.kceb.org/useruploads/Forms/Board_Policy_Non-Electioneers_sign.pdf

If you are having a hard time figuring out how far 25 feet is, ask for the person in charge at that polling station to show you.

What to bring

  • Yourself & the Flyers

  • Volunteer signup sheet and a pen or two if you plan on being there for several hours

  • Weather appropriate clothing for standing outside

  • Sun, wind, and rain protection as needed

  • Water, more water, drink your water & snacks if staying for a while

  • Chair and/or table if you plan on staying for a long time, otherwise bring a clipboard.

  • If setting flyers on a table, bring a paperweight or clipboard so nothing flies away
